Synopsis:
In the fifties, young Alice leaves her natal Swiss mountains for the sunny and vibrant shores of Beirut. She falls madly in love with Joseph, a quirky astrophysicist intent on sending the first Lebanese national into space. Alice quickly fits in among his relatives, but after years of bliss, the civil war threatens their Garden of Eden.
Director’s Biography:
Chloé Mazlo is a French-Lebanese writer, director, artist, and animator based in Paris. Among her six short films is “Les petits cailloux” (2014), which was nominated for a César Award for Best Animated Film. She says of her first feature, “Skies of Lebanon” (2020), “I wanted to talk about the Lebanese Civil War as my family told it to me. The character of Alice is very much inspired by my grandmother”.

في الخمسينيات، تترك أليس الشابة مسقط رأسها في جبال سويسرا نحو شواطئ بيروت المشمسة، وتقع بحب جنوني مع جوزيف، عالم الفيزياء الفلكية غريب الأطوار الذي يعمل نحو إرسال أول مواطن لبناني للفضاء. تتأقلم أليس بسرعة مع أقرباء جوزيف، ولكن بعد سنوات من الهناء، تهدد الحرب الأهلية جنتهم.
عن المخرجة:
كلوي مازلو كاتبة ومخرجة وفنانة ورسامة متحركة فرنسية-لبنانية مقيمة في باريس. أخرجت ستة أفلام قصيرة منها فيلم "حصوات صغيرة" (2014)، والذي فاز بجائزة سيزار لأفضل فيلم رسوم متحركة. تقول مازلو عن فيلمها الطويل الأول "تحت سماء أليس" (2020)، "كنت أريد التحدث عن الحرب الأهلية اللبنانية حسبما سمعت عنها من عائلتي. استوحيت أليس بشدة من جدتي."
